John Thomas Ebersberger is a founding member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, an award-winning member of the American Impressionist Society, and a member of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters.

A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, he also studied privately with Cedric Egeli and Henry Hensche at the Cape Cod School of Art. In his paintings he strives to combine his classical understanding of the figure as well as the Impressionists’ use of color. Ebersberger teaches art at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis and conducts workshops throughout the United States. His work hangs in many collections, including the United States Naval Academy, Lockheed-Martin, the First Bank of Alabama, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Maryland.

In the winter of 2003, Maryland Public Television produced a documentary on Ebersberger for its “Outdoors Maryland” program. The segment, “Shades of Winter,” was awarded a 2003 Capital-area Regional Emmy.
